Happy New Year!

I'm sure most bloggers you follow are posting things about their resolutions or plans for next year and I will be no different. However, mine comes with the announcement that for 2017, I will not be blogging (゜o゜)

I've thought about this a lot over the past few months and it's still not the easiest decision to make but I am more settled about it. I've been blogging in some way or another since I was maybe 14, using TeenOnlineDiary and moving to LiveJournal before starting on Blogger. This is now my 2nd blog here on Blogger with my original being made private for my own use.

Not having a blog in my life is going to be strange for sure
But blogging has grown and changed so much in the past few years alone and I feel like whilst I have grown myself, I haven't been able to keep up. I don't know if the blogging world has a place for me anymore and so I will graciously bow out for now. Who knows, maybe after a year of reflection I will miss it all so much and come crawling back, but for now I bid you adieu ♥

So, where will I be online?
You can definitely find me on Twitter, I am pretty much glued to the thing!
For photo's be sure to follow my Instagram
and finally, check me out on Twitch

Moving to creating content on Twitch is one of my goals for the year, as much as I want to dive in head first and stream all the time, I think a goal of at least once a month is more realistic for me. I might take the jump in to streaming games on there in the future but for now I will be crafting cute things via needle felting and maybe even some rhinestone decoden ♥

For my offline life, I really want to get back in to studying Japanese!
So I will be trying my best to put aside time to do that when I can

and that's all for now
I hope 2017 is great for you all and that I will see you as I go on into my other ventures

Yuki Tokuda 2017

We're in that weird time of year where we begin the transition into a new chapter whilst still feeling like there's so much to do before our existing calendar is over. Putting things off until next week turns into making New Years resolutions and I don't know about you, but it just makes me feel strange.

I have a strained relationship with the passing of time and so when it comes to things such as calendars I am super picky about what I hang in my kitchen, I always want it to be perfect and bring a smile to my face with every turn of the page, and I feel like I struck gold when I found this cute calendar illustrated by Yuki Tokuda.

J-LIST BOX: Halloween Edition

J-list (aka/ Jbox) recently re-entered the Japanese Subscription Box market with their new J-list Box. Alongside the relaunch of the snack box they also released a limited edition Halloween box and I just knew that I had to get my spooky paws on one!

Be sure to check out my YouTube unboxing video for a quick run down of what was inside plus a cute secret hidden within the box's packaging. You can also see below for a more detailed look at what was inside along with some of my thoughts~

My blog has had a make over!

Whilst I liked the old pink and white layout, I found that it was rather straining on the eye to look at for longer periods of time, and sadly a lot of the colours were locked so I couldn't simply edit them and instead had to look for a whole new layout. I settled on this one as it allowed me to change the background colour (which is currently a light grey to break up the masses of white) and also have a rather fun header space!

Here's a quick list of other changes that this update will bring:
★ Removal of GFC follower widget: to follow the blog using GFC simply add the blog manually in your blogger dashboard using the add button in the left panel. Bloglovin' now appears as a smaller + symbol alongside other social media icons.
★ Popular posts and email subscribe: These were coded in to my new layout and I liked them
★ Future posts will no longer feature images with rounded corners: This is something I still like the look of but I feel like the rounded images don't suit the new pixel header etc, it's also time consuming to edit all the images so will be one less headache for me when it comes to posting
★ Post sharing: Another thing coded in to my layout, below each post is a small toolbar for sharing on some social media platforms, you don't have to use these but they're not very intrusive so I'll keep them around
★ I'm going to stop trying so hard: It's no secret that blogging isn't what it used to be and I know this blog will probably never see the follower numbers my previous one had, so I'm going to stop getting so hung up over this stuff and JUST HAVE FUN!

and I think that covers everything "important"
I hope you enjoy the new look and I'll see you soon with a new post!

FIGURE: Super Sonico with Macaron Tower

It's been 10 years since the world was blessed with the presence of Super Sonico and so what better way to celebrate this than by showcasing what has to be one of my favourite figures to date. If anyone in the world loves macarons more than me, it has to be Sonico and so I was incredibly excited when this figure was announced, I knew from the start that it had to join my collection!

OYATSU BOX: September 2016 *

From now on I will be posting my rundowns of the contents over on OyatsuBox's blog and reserving my own blog for individual reviews of interesting snacks from the box. In my current format I'm having to open the box and all it's contents in a single sitting which feels very overwhelming and I often end up with snacks that have gone stale because I've had to open them for photographing.
I hope you're all ok with this new format (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

NENDOROID: Show by Rock!

Welcome to the Nendoroid of SIN
For with this figure I have committed the crime of purchasing merchandise because it's cute and not because I am a fan or knowledgeable on the series she is from ∑(゜△゜;)
Though in my defence, I am not totally clueless as to who Cyan is and I know she is from Show by Rock, a mobile rhythm game by Sanrio in Japan, the game was later turned in to an Anime too, however I don't think I've played the game and I never found anywhere to watch the show, so I can't say that I'm a "fan" but it sure as hell won't hold me back from having this cutie in my collection!

I actually first saw Cyan as a giant sculpture in Gamers, Akihabara during my visit in late 2014
So I'm totally claiming nostalgia as a reason to love her too, ok? ok.

Dream Loot Crate: Cozy + Kawaii *

Recently, I learned that Loot Crate, the subscription service for geeks and gamers, was putting together a special project focusing on what people would include in their Dream Crate. I was overjoyed to come up with some ideas for the company I know, love and admire and couldn't wait to get stuck in ♪

The core theme I chose for my crate was "Cozy + Kawaii" because there's nothing I love more than cute stuff and curling up on my sofa to play video games. Before getting in to my Dream Crate's contents you'll notice I gave the crate itself a little bit of a fun make over, I kept most of it's iconic black look intact but gave it a pastel face lift on the front, I think I was subconsciously inspired by the new Galaxy 3DS.

As for what's inside...

目玉焼き ★ Sunny Side Up

Fried eggs have got to be one of the strangest fashion trends I've seen in years and I LOVE IT

I recently decided that I wanted some kind of pom-pom charm for my handbag and in my search I found myself on ASOS where I discovered the perfection that is the fried egg pom-pom from Skinny Dip (。→v←。)♥
I wanted something a little unique and this just ticked all the boxes for me, it was love at first sight

Finding the egg charm led me to search for other egg products which is where I came across this fabulous sequined egg T-shirt too. It's so ridiculous, it had to be mine!

For me, the weirdest part of my love for the fried egg trend is I actually hate eating eggs
But damn... they cute. I blame Gudetama!

Sadly, my egg charm was actually faulty, but ASOS customer service were amazing and replaced it for me straight away with zero fuss and no extra charges. I feel as though it's important to mention this because people are always so quick to complain when things go wrong, but we should give credit where credit is due and they were fantastic!

ポテトチップスコーラ ★ Potato Chips Cola

It's been at least 11 years since I discovered and became obsessed with Japanese snacks, and sometimes I worry that it's got to a point where I have seen and tried everything before. So I am always happy to discover a new and ridiculous product being released in Japan.

This year Namco released a Potato Chips flavoured Cola drink in their arcade game centers and I was lucky enough to win a bottle from a giveaway hosted by Tokyo Treat

The flavour is supposed to replicate the taste of drinking cola after you've eaten a handful of salted potato chips, and whilst this isn't something I do often, I do have memories of drinking cola with a half chewed mouth of crisps when I was a kid haha. So I was a little worried about how this would turn out!

I told myself it would taste better if it had been in the fridge for a while, but I'm not sure if I was also putting off tasting it heh, though it turns out that I didn't need to worry or hesisitate!
The flavour was lighter than regular coke with a very slight hint of salt, and it was actually really delicious!
I often find regular cola drinks to be heavy and (TMI incoming) it makes my saliva thick and mouth feel gross BUT there wasn't any of that with this cola drink. It was a pleasure to drink ♥

I am always to happy to pleasantly surprised by these kinds of products
It's just a shame that they're almost always Limited Edition and hard to come by, as I want more!

OYATSU BOX: July 2016 *

 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Hello everyone!
It's time to venture into the latest Oyatsu Box

July's box was a special dagashi edition!

Dagashi is the name given to snacks in Japan that are affordable and aimed at children
As such, many snacks have colourful packaging and sometimes fun gimmicks/features
Plenty are also long standing and have been sold in Japan for generations!

だがしかし ★ Dagashi Kashi

Dagashi Kashi is an amazing anime and manga series all about Japanese snacks
So of course, I am absolutely head over heels in love with it
and my mind just about exploded when I saw these official collaboration snacks!

This collaboration a piece of marketing genius too
It's advertised as a collab between Oyatsu Company (maker of the snacks)
and Shidare Company (the fictional snack company from the series)

I can imagine this collab would make Hotaru very happy
So it's only right that she takes right of place on the packaging ~(●´┏ε┓`●)

NENDOROID: Isabelle Summer Ver.

It's no secret that I love Nendoroid figures
So seeing them combined with one of my favourite game series is just perfection
and having missed the Summer Isabelle during her initial release
I was ecstatic to see her be approved for a re-release ヾ(。´┏з┓`)ノ

朝ご飯ポテトチップス ★ Breakfast Potato Chips

Recently, Japanese potato chip giants Koikeya have taken on the world of Breakfasts
Their first dip in to the market was with Banana and Peach flavoured crisps
and this time they've come back with a wider selection of breakfast flavoured snacks

As a lover of gimmicks, Japanese oddities and crisps
I obviously had to jump at the chance to try these!  ヽ(*゜▽゜*)ノ
Though there was one problem... I'm both allergic to apples and lactose intolerant hahaha

Magical Gamer Girl

 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Hi everyone!
Today I wanted to showcase my latest iPhone case purchase
It's an adorable mix of Magical Girls and Gaming by Magic Circle

I fell in love with the design pretty much immediately as it spoke to my soul ♥
and since I knew that I was going to be on a bit of a spending purge for a while
I decided it should be my "last treat" for a while

The design features pastel pixels of all my childhood gaming loves
and it goes perfectly with my rose gold iPhone 6  ♪
Though it does make me wonder... where that IRL Sailor V game at?!
The case itself is pretty impressive and well designed
I've bought a few cases in my time
(If you're here from my old blog you will know how obsessed I became!!)
But this is the first time I've seen a case that has plastic to cover the buttons
It also doesn't leave the bottom on the phone bare either, as it has openings for all the ports
and even for the individual mic/speaker holes!!

So even though the case is made of a thin plastic, I still feel confident in it's protection
Sure, it might not survive a fall down some concrete stairs (but neither did my old phone)
but it will definitely keep your phone safe from the perils of every day use!

Another interesting design feature from the case is the "slits" in the corners
These allow for the case to become flexible and more forgiving when you're removing the case

The print itself also feels very sturdy, I feel like it would take a lot to even scratch the design!

So overall a fantastic case made only better by it's amazing design!
Kudos to the artist Magic Circle and her choice in manufacturing company (^_-)☆wink

NENDOROID: Fire Emblem Marth

 (┏◎_◎)┏  *heavy breathing*

The moment Marth's Nendoroid was announced last year
I just knew I needed him in my collection!

I discovered Marth via Super Smash Bros Melee
(and I'm now realising how long ago that day actually was)
I was playing for the first time and I was like "Who's that guy?!"
My friend said she knew I'd like him because he was "pretty and spoke in Japanese"
...she was right haha

and so Marth became my Smash main... as well as my husband (⌒▽⌒;)

ポケモンカレー★Pokemon Curry

Do you remember the golden days of Pokemon?
Back in the 90's where it was literally everywhere, even on food products?

Well, Japan is lucky enough to still hang on to some of that glory
Pokemon food items are still big sellers in the Pokemon Centers and supermarkets
and today I will be trying a Pokemon Curry!

Isn't this one of the cutest packages you've ever seen?
I can imagine how easy it would be to lure children in to eating with such a cute box

The curry itself does not contain Pokemon, it's actually pork and vegetable flavoured
and this particular box is "甘口" which means mild... but can also be used to say "stupid" lol!

だがしかし ★ Dagashi Kashi

Recently an anime by the name of Dagashi Kashi has stolen my heart!

The anime centres around a Dagashi store (Cheap candy store)
in a Japanese country side where wacky antics and an obsession for Japanese candy takes place

There is a story, the shows protagonist Kokonatsu, dreams of becoming a Manga artist
Then one day Hotaru shows up, she's the daughter of a famous snack manufacturer
and she has come to recruits Kokonatsu's father to her family company
Yo refuses and says that he will only take the job if Kokonatsu inherits their Dagashi store
and do begins a series in which the eccentric Hotaru does her best to unleash
Kokonatsu's inner love for all things Dagashi!

Hotaru fast became my favourite character, she's strange and she loves snacks
What's not to love? Haha
Whilst she exhibits behaviour that is often strange, throughout the show
she also teaches other characters about the history and origins of Dagashi
Which is definitely one of the reasons why I love this show so much
I am a sucker for trivia and Japanese snacks, so to have them combined
It's pretty much heaven for me ♥

and what better way to celebrate my love of this show than with a haul of Dasaghi!

Jbox too fell in love with the show and made various Dagashi Sampler sets
Featuring a mix of popular snacks as well as those that were featured in the show

Sakura Pepsi

Spring in Japan can only mean one thing... SAKURA ALL THE THINGS
Since many people take part in Hanami (flower viewing picnics/parties)
It's only natural that companies want to get in on the action with limited Sakura goods

This year Pepsi released a pink Sakura soda, which took the internet by storm
Because it just looks so damn "anime" haha
and I myself couldn't resist the chance to try a cute, limited edition product

Though the pink soda itself is cute, I have to agree with Sharla that the packaging is rather cringe
They had beautiful sakura as their muse for design and churned out a strange and dark package
The Sakura itself is like clip art, less detailed than it's dang emoji counterpart
and the font for the logo just kind of screams "Naruto" to me haha
I guess it matches the Pepsi aesthetic, but it had so much more potential!

As for the drink itself, I've heard mixed reactions but mostly positive
People have said it tasted like jelly beans and others candy floss
To me, it tasted lightly of cherries... but also of aniseed balls??

It was kind of medicinal tasting and I contemplated every sip of this bottle
but I still could not place my finger on what it exactly tastes like!
The air of familiarity was so strong, I couldn't shake it off

Over all, it was a good drink, it just left me confused more than anything
I wouldn't say I'm crazy about this, but I sure wouldn't turn down another bottle!
I definitely recommend giving it a try if you have the chance ♪

Pocky Midi キャラメルラテ

Since yesterday's post was about a tea flavoured snack
I figured today I would balance that out with something coffee related!

Pocky Midi is my favourite kind of Pocky by far
It makes the original style feel so bland and unbalanced

Pocky Midi is shorter but makes up for it with a chunkier biscuit
and 2 layers of thick flavoured chocolate, one of which is whipped

Each pack contains 12 sticks which are grouped in to smaller packs
I guess this is to encourage portion control, but I can't help myself around these lol

Despite being called "Caramel latte" I somehow forgot about the coffee haha
So it's strong flavour took me by surprise

You definitely get an initial burst of sweet coffee
followed by the smoothness of the caramel (with a slight hint of salt, but in a good way!)
It's flavour is sharp but also sweet and creamy

A delight to eat, pretty much heaven to be honest
I may have just found my new favourite flavour of Pocky EVER
Now that's a big moment haha

I don't know about you but I personally find the chocolate on regular Pocky to be kind of "waxy"
But there's none of that here, the outer chocolate is slightly firmer and the center is whipped
adding some textures and a much nicer sensation when you eat it

Caramel Latte Pocky Midi is available on Jbox for $2
I'd rate this Pocky more than 10/10! It's amazing
If this is sold out everywhere, it's because I bought them all haha

ミルクティーHORN ★ Milk Tea Horn

Despite probably being the only British person who doesn't enjoy tea
When I saw this mix up of a Japanese snack with a British tea flavour, I couldn't resist!

I love the royal blue coloured packaging ♥
and of course each bar is individually wrapped, because Japan

I always have to sniff the things I try and I feel like they resembled caramel
but there was also a presence of tea leaves, you can even see some in the biscuit

The taste was familiar and I can't quite shake it
The flavour is Earl Grey but, I can't say I've drank that tea before
No, they tasted like something else I've eaten but....
I've eaten so much from stuff from Japan, I can't put my finger on it lol

They are a pleasant flavour though, if not slightly bitter, lending itself to it's tea aspect
The biscuit is thin and crunchy, whilst the chocolate is smooth and sweet

There is a strong after taste which can slightly burn your throat
So it's best not to eat too many in one sitting

Over all a nice snack, though I do wonder
Are these to be eaten in place of tea? Or alongside a cup of tea?

Milk Tea Horn is available on Jbox for $2.20
The fact that the packaging says "Seasonal" tells me these are Limited Edition
So do act fast if you wish to try them out!

iPhone Pamyu Pamyu

(●・ω・●) Hello everyone!
Recent I was on the hunt for a very specific phone case
I wanted a flip cover that could hold cards and of course, it had to be cute!

I'd seen a lot of lovely Pokemon cases but they didn't have space for cards
So I found myself on Japanese shopping sites typing in random fandoms and phrases
Then I decided to try "Kyary Pamyu Pamyu"
I figured that would bring some cute results, and I wasn't disappointed!

Turns out that the Kyary attraction at Universal Studio Japan has a bunch of merch too!
I was instantly lured in by it's ridiculous print and bright colours

Everything on this case looks straight out of a Kyary music video
I wouldn't be surprised if they have lurked in the backgrounds!
My favourite might have to be that fabulous lipstick, check out them eyelashes

The case itself feels really protective
However the part which holds the phone in place is just glued in
So I'm a little worried that this could fall out if handled too often

Luckily I don't plan on using this case everyday, which sounds rather silly
But I wanted a case like this purely for travelling!
Having the card slots means I can pop my Oyster card in there for easy access in London
and I guess my Suica, should I ever get the chance to return to Japan

On the back is also a Universal Studio Japan logo ♥

So, mission complete!!
I not only got a case that functions how I wanted it to
But it's also super cute and unique too, just how I like it (≧ε≦○)chu♪
